The basics

WHAT IS PERMANENT JEWELRY?

The newest (gorgeous!) live-in accessory, Permanent jewelry is made from a chain that is perfectly sized to you for an ideal fit, then welded together instead of closed with a clasp. The piece is perfectly tailored to your wrist, ankle, or neck and can be worn to swim, sweat, shower, etc.

WHY PERMANENT JEWELRY?

Permanent jewelry offers totally effortless style. No more frustration with a clasp or forgetting to accessorize for the day. It’s a beautiful way to commemorate a special occasion, celebrate a milestone, or make a memory with someone (think sisters, best friends, bridesmaids, etc) that’s special to you.

CAN I REMOVE IT WHEN I’M READY?

Absolutely! Permanent jewelry is only as permanent as you want it to be. Whenever you’re ready to remove it, it’s easy to do yourself if you so choose. If you’d like, we can even turn it into a standard piece of jewelry with a clasp so that your investment is not lost.

WHAT METALS DO YOU USE?

We only use metals that stand the test of time and are suitable for everyday wear such as 14kt gold fill, 14kt rose gold fill, and sterling silver.

WHAT IS THE PRICE RANGE?

Pricing varies based on jewelry type (bracelet, anklet, necklace) and metal (14kt gold fill, 14kt rose gold fill, sterling silver). Pieces start at $64.

DO I NEED TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

During public events, it's best to reserve a time slot so that you don't show up and potentially have to wait in line. You can book your appointment below!

DO I HAVE TO PAY TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

You will pay a $15 deposit to secure your reservation. This deposit goes towards your purchase - it is not a fee. Please note that if you fail to show up to your appointment or cancel less than 24 hours in advance, your deposit is non-refundable.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE?

Not a problem! You can cancel or reschedule using the link in your booking confirmation up to 24 hours prior to your appointment without forfeiting your deposit.

HOW MANY PIECES OF JEWELRY CAN I GET?

A 15 minute appointment slot can accommodate welding of up to two pieces of permanent jewelry. If you're considering more than two pieces of permanent jewelry, we suggest booking two appointment slots so there's no rush.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN I BRING WITH ME?

Your appointment is just for you! If you would like to bring a friend or family member (or both!) and enjoy this experience together, please book two (or 3) consecutive appointments. If you would like to book for more than 3 people and don't see consecutive time slots, please email us at hello@chipandchisel.com so we can assist!

HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THE BEST FIT?

It really comes down to personal preference and what's most comfortable for you. We'll give you recommendations, but ultimately you get to decide what's best for you!

CAN I SEE THE CHAINS WORN BEFORE DECIDING?

Of course! Try out any/all of the chains while you're onsite - it will help you make the perfect choice.

DOES IT HURT?

No way! The process is fast and painless. There is a spark of light and a quick "zap" sound as the chain is welded together, but you won’t feel a thing.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

The actual welding takes only seconds! The majority of the time is spent selecting your chain(s) and the perfect length(s).

Jewelry care

HOW SHOULD I CLEAN IT?

You can gently wash your permanent jewelry regularly with mild soap and water. We recommend this after swimming or sweating. Be sure to rinse it well and gently pat dry. You can also use a jewelry polishing cloth or a piece of 100% cotton material.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT BREAKS?

While rare, a faulty chain or weld will be apparent very quickly. A weak chain link or weld will cause the piece to fall off or break within the first couple days, but don't worry - we'll take care of that for you! Your permanent jewelry can be re-welded at no cost to you within the first 10 days. Email us at hello@chipandchisel.com to schedule a time for your re-weld. After 10 days, permanent jewelry can be re-welded for $15 by booking a new appointment.

WHAT IF I WANT TO REMOVE IT?

Need to break up with your permanent piece? You can use wire cutters or sometimes even scissors will work to very carefully snip the welded link. If you cut the actual chain and not the welded link, we will not be able to re-weld your chain again later. If you'd like to add a clasp to your chain and wear it as a standard piece of jewelry, please email us at hello@chipandchisel.com so that we can assist in making that happen.
